starting to believe that maybe there isn't a next available agent because nobody is actually answering these calls, HSBC. Now 40 minutes on hold. Were banks always this terrible, or is this the same contempt for and slashing of customer service that every other industry does too?

Banks were not always like this. They used to have these called branches in your home town that you could just walk into, see a human and get your things done. Ah... The good old days. 馃槈
