I received an invite from the Biden administration for a Diwali event being held by the VP on nov 8. I decline any invitation from an institution that supports the collective punishment of a trapped civilian population—50% of whom are children.

I’m a Sikh woman and some of her poetry makes me cringe. I appreciate her but this made me laugh so hard. I check every day on Twitter to make sure you and your family are okay. Although I know that no one can ever be okay in that situation…

Thank you very much for your kindness. I wanted to ask about the surname Kaur. My PhD cosupervisor was Hadev Kaur, the kindest person I ever met (and a hardcore Barca fan which was a bonus). What does it mean?

The Kaur and Singh is supposed to be a last name to get rid of caste or any other social category for ppl who are Sikhs. Sikhism is big on squalor especially among genders. Singh is usually adopted by men and Kaur by women.

Kaur means prince. The Guru gave the Sikh women the position of first in line of the throne. Whether we accept it or not that was the intention complete and absolute equality
