I used to angrily tell my student how Britain helped exacerbate the Irish Famine that happened 170 years ago. Can you imagine people starving in the 1840s?! Well, the US/UK are helping Israel starve Palestinians in Gaza. People are literally slimming down and it shows on their faces.

The British govt is currently doing this to the poor in the UK too. Some people don't have enough money to buy food or heat their homes.

Ah, no, the British didn't exacerbate the famine, they caused it and weaponised it. They exported lots of food from Ireland throughout - it's just the Irish weren't allowed eat anything but diseased potatoes. They weren't even allowed forage. But lots of similarities w/ Israel.

There wasn't actually a "famine" in Ireland. Yes the potato crops suffered from blight but if they hadn't been taking the rest of our crops for themselves, we would have survived it
