(2/2) and the so it can talk to Telsa and get "app updates" not even wise enough to say "firmware updates" companies love any mass logs.
My power meter is mechanical so I doubt that.
Probably have one here. Not sure where it is. In UK I have a manually read one. Previous 'smart meter' was economy 7 controlled by 198LW.
People would never update firmware on something that's a software bug away from a being a giant firebomb. Im with tesla on this one.

probably so they can update it to fix any firmware errors that might cause fires or explosions, would be my guess.
So you put a bunch of highly explosive devices in your home, and your safeguard for them not blowing up is a WiFi connection to Internet? ok

You mean a highly explosive thing in your house is at the same time a IoT thing that needs regular software updates not to explode? ok
ALL IoT sucks security wise, from baby monitors to lightbulbs to cars. If the safety of a device is somehow related to I, it's misdesigned.

Samsung like in "our smart TVs actually transmit back the name of the files you watch without asking?". IoT sucks.
