I firewalled mine. Now it takes a minute longer to start, randomly crashes, etc. But it still does local DLNA!

My Vizio doesn't bug me to login to wifi, but it's not a "smart" model. Also, I assume my Chromecast does all that anyway.

Also the 4k ones initially had the only 4k capable apps for Netflix streaming.
