Wow @RyanNegri got stranded in the middle of nowhere with a Tesla because it couldn't start without cell service 😬 instagram.com/p/BPQeu9VDDCI/

I would never rely on just the app key because phone could die, break, get lost, etc
far be it from me to defend Tesla of all things but this isn't teslas fault

sorry but I don't really think you can blame @TeslaMotors for that. I wouldn't drive without my keys. @internetofshit @nomoketo
It needs cell service to use the cell phone to restart it. You can start it with the fob like a reg. car

@weemundo @RyanNegri you leave the keys at home. Unlock with your phone. But lack of signal is the car's fault. OK then.
you can, you just need a key like any car. Never ignore a primary system and rely on backup only.

@diodesign @RyanNegri Or in other words, he knowingly set off without his car keys, relying on the magic of the internet?

No, because he forgot his key fob.

@BrendanEich @RyanNegri so why exactly don't Teslas enable unlocking via NFC? Any serious reason, or just bad Product Mgmt?
