Have you read Bainbridge's seminal and timeless paper, Ironies of Automation, from 1983? Highly recommended for skeptics of ever-increasing automation in sociotechnical systems. Even more relevant now than it was then.

It brings up the question that is often avoided: who is responsible when the technology fails. We can find the driver at fault when they are in direct control. Who is at fault with automated driving? Is it the owner of the vehicle or the maker?

If someone gets hit, is Tesla still liable or would it now be the driver?
