Samsung makes good TVs BUT you should avoid them: after a while, ads that can't be removed start appearing in system menus. flatpanelshd.com/news.php?su…

I keep my summary TV stupid and more importantly off the grid. No live TV, only steaming services via my Xbox. I'm sure there are still privacy issues, but they seem less serious than a TV that keeps sending data (I checked)

The best solution is: big hdtv + Linux/Android box = great image quality and secure, filtered and no intrusive content. Bonus: you could upgrade to whatever and whenever you want the OS, apps and media filters.

Stopped buying Samsung after the faulty capacitor problem. In the US they repaired bad TVs (after consumers sued), but not in Spain. I had to repair it myself. Worked for a while, but I probably overheated the circuit and failed again half a year later... en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capa…

I am at the point where I am not willing to buy any "smart" tv at all. My next TV will be the biggest UHD monitor I am able to buy. It only needs an HDMI input, thats all.

this is like amazon putting ads in their kindle devices but you can't even install a different OS to remove them
