Remember how in the '90s we thought that a "smart home" would have a server in the basement that ran the whole house? Then in the 2000s and 2010s we laughed at how naive that vision was? It sure would have been nice if 90s us had been right.

I love my wink pivot strips, but after the first one lost connection to the wink servers, I replaced the bad Brain with a D1 mini and Esphome.

Apparently my dad got a new alexa version that allowed him to transfer the winks to alexa
