In 280 characters, name a non cryptocurrency use for blockchain technology AND explain why it's better than the existing way we do that thing today (for the latter, feel free to use more than one tweet). Seriously interested in REAL uses for blockchain tech.

Replace DNS with a blockchain. Distributed, verifiable. Some of the existing proposals are interesting if you ignore the obvious installed base issue.

DNS was my first reaction, too. In practice it’ll never happen because today’s DNS isn’t quite bad enough to justify the transition cost. Blockchain-backed DNS would have to be a lot more awesomer to encourage the change.
DNSSEC is already fast, distributed, and has encryption finger prints. Blockchain would not help and would make DNS very slow.
