We had two false "the sky is falling" scares in 2005 prior to Katrina. I partially blame media overhype for the deaths.

Yeah, that's awful. Matthew isn't even expected to make landfall in FL though. The coast will still get pounded I'm sure.

A lot of people didn't want to spend the time/money running away for the 3rd time when the first 2 were uneventful. Stay safe.

I'm inland here in Orlando. Big blow and lots of rain with some flash flooding predicted. We'll be OK.
