It's been a while since I've been a hiring manager, but are resumes somehow a thing of the past?

More a thing of the past is not resumes, but proper sentence construction, punctuation, spelling, and grammar within them.

Nope, still very relevant if you can’t get a strong recommendation from a trusted colleague.
