RHEL/CentOS do not include NTFS file system support as part of the core OS packages?!? Are you f---ing kidding me?!?

you can install ntfs-3g and ntfsprogs from the epel repo for RHEL/CentOS (epel contains rebuilt fedora packages).

Which is indeed what I ended up doing, but why isn't there a RHEL core package for ntfs-3g JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER DISTRO

wasn't that a big todo how many years back? I recall default include went to default exclude. Or was that fbsd?
