Does the defense expert have a moral/ethical obligation to point this out at the trial? Should forensic experts be 3rd-parties?

I have on occasion found there to be a perception that LE are open, 3rd party, independent where defence are not.

Reading the newspaper report I get the feeling that we should also be clamouring for better training to improve skill

we do a lot of civil cases like this. court needs to agree to use a neutral. I wonder if it ever happens in criminal?

Police experts should be unbiased and clinical. Peer review & open disclosure resolve this question.
