This is so polarizing. What’s the reasoning? We are half in/half out already and stuck on moving forward with 365 or going back to on-prem

So does moving to 365 improve the ability to avoid problems or does it just move the flaming dumpster further away from the building?

Definitely avoids a raft of problems, and keeps a large cache of user creds away from your home network. Pay extra for higher levels of M365 auditing to help you troubleshoot cloud issues.
