Our daughter shows no inclination to go into computing or any other STEM field. And I’m glad about that given what I hear constantly from my female colleagues in the field about harassment and abuse they receive. We need to work to make tech a safe field for our daughters.

It's not just in tech that this occurs - it makes me sad when I hear young girls avoiding the tech industry because of such situations.

Mine had no inclination towards STEM, either. They just like other fields. My older daughter got her Master's Degree in Social Work at the University of Chicago, so I'm not complaining! :)

Absolutely. And I’m glad she shows no inclination due to the harassment.

My daughter does - and I’m optimistic that culture is shifting and it won’t be the problem for her in the future that it has been in the past.

How do we do more than simply not being part of the problem?
