Follow-up ethical question to the one asked this morning: if you have geolocation data on all your corp issued phones, should you be searching location data on January 6th to determine if any corp owned devices were at the Capitol (or other state Capitol Buildings)? Why/why not?

Cool. Now how about I search your corporate device to determine if you are attending AA or NA meetings? Even if you are in recovery you are potentially a risk to the organization.

One of the societal problems I worry about is our growing surveillance state. Authorities use extreme cases (like insurrectionists pillaging the Capitol) to pass laws that also allow them to track behaviors that should not be tracked or criminalized.

How is it not equivalent? So, if you were at the capital there is no way you were not rioting, and if you are on a bad side of town there is no way you were not buying drugs. As a corporation we will decide what you did or did not do.
