The thing we can’t become numb to: we lost 2996 people on 9/11.
We are having a 9/11 every 36 hours right now. Much like 9/11, those deaths aren’t equally distributed across the country.
Then, we pulled together. Now, people are complaining about not getting their hair cut.
In April an average of ~2,000 people died of coronavirus in the US each day. That is more than daily average from cancer or heart disease. I fear there is growing complacency that this level of loss is a new normal. Are we really ready to add a new leading cause of death? 1/

Consider that people were able to gather together physically during earlier times of crisis. This crisis divides us from each other. We have to fight to maintain what ties us together.
