I hate it when people talk about "more than 10 years ago" like it's ancient history. Less than a century ago (a little over three generations ago), a race mob murdered so many people in the US that we don't even have a body count.

See also “Zoot Suit Riots”, which was less a riot than mob violence against ethnic minorities primarily by US servicemen during WWII. Another one they don’t talk about much in school.
