My experience is that updatedb + locate is usually faster. And if you end up doing more than one search, definitely faster.

I ran a conference that helped hundreds of people for free, yesterday. What does this anonymous person do to help humanity other than constantly make snide remarks about women and human rights on Twitter?

Cults of personality generally have reality-warping fields associated with them. RMS is surrounded by a whole cadre of enablers who ignore his bad behavior because he represents something to them that they have not been able to find in themselves.
