My experience is that updatedb + locate is usually faster. And if you end up doing more than one search, definitely faster.

The zless, zmore, etc are antithetical to the Unix design “religion”. “zcat | ...” should be enough!

What’s your over-under on how soon some group decides to intentionally block the Suez now that we have such a clear pattern for success? Jam a large container ship athwart and scuttle the boat with explosives...

We all have sorrows from the past year. Comparing them is counter-productive. We are all allowed to grieve in our own way for our own private losses and disappointments.

Truly a sad day. I’m disgusted.

XFS support has also been languishing, although that effort needs a lot of work.

More that somebody would actually have to be tasked to manage incoming PRs. The state of TSK support makes me truly sad. #FreeLibTSK

It is also instructive that I have come out against RMS and others today and I am not getting this crap in my mentions.
I ran a conference that helped hundreds of people for free, yesterday. What does this anonymous person do to help humanity other than constantly make snide remarks about women and human rights on Twitter?

Cults of personality generally have reality-warping fields associated with them. RMS is surrounded by a whole cadre of enablers who ignore his bad behavior because he represents something to them that they have not been able to find in themselves.

Are you asking about RMS or Sage Sharp?

I love Linux, FOSS, and information security. I do not love the cults of personality in our industry and the rampant abuse an harrassment that seems to have become the norm. 14/n

Every time we excuse bad behavior, we signal to others that such behavior is acceptable and make our culture even more toxic. Every time we excuse bad behavior, we become part of the problem. 13/n
