Can’t see myself ever willingly staying @HiltonHotels Baltimore Hilton again. There’s a perfectly nice @Marriott across Pratt Street that actually provides reliable hot water in their showers.

Congrats to Team Back of the Room — winners of the FOR508 challenge at SANS Baltimore! Excellent work, folks!

This BS with @TheUPSStore franchises in hotels intercepting packages (even @FedEx) and charging guests a fee to retrieve them has got to stop. I already paid to ship the package. @TheUPSStore is just holding it for ransom.

Nothing forensic specific, but I have a vague memory that Solaris included a script for gathering debug info to send with your support requests. It captured some useful forensic data.

I propose a new measure of futility—“That’s as bad as trying to run a VM over USB 2.0”

Apparently the firm that had data stolen was allegedly using data stolen from another firm...by the exact same person who allegedly stole this batch of data. Sigh.

Add ... | sed ‘s/,$//‘ to your pipeline to remove the final comma, then you can use $(...) to substitute directly into your second command line. Also consider awk to replace egrep ... | cut

I wonder what “formatted” means in this context? I’m guessing there’s data there. Maybe easier for the provider to go out of business than recover it though. What a world.

Recovered some accidentally deleted photos from an SD card, making a good friend very happy. Made me reflect on how often what I do is recovering data to deliver bad news. #DFIRlife
