@alanjones19 I've been able to steal free space from an ext3 formatted volume and shift it over to another volume non-destructively.
.@agideon @myhyde81 Ubuntu definitely supports LVM (using it on my Ubuntu laptop). I believe you can resize even ext2 on the fly.
