Impostor syndrome: “I don't know what I'm doing. It's only a matter of time until everyone finds out." Growth mindset: "I don't know what I'm doing yet. It's only a matter of time until I figure it out." The highest form of self-confidence is believing in your ability to learn.

An excellent summary of what teachers experience....
I spent a good chunk of the past week talking with teachers and helping them stock their classrooms for the upcoming school year. I want to talk a bit about some issues teachers are facing right now. 1/ 🧵

At the end of the day - really question who the bad guys are in your worldview. If they're the most vulnerable people in your society, you're the bad guy. Savvy? If your bogeyman is a trans child, you are bad. If your bogey is librarians you're lost right now. Find your way back.

Reminder. We DO have a vaccine for Monkeypox. It’s the Smallpox vaccine, which successfully eradicated a disease that killed more than 300 million people since 1900. A massive global vaccination campaign put an end to that disease in 1977. Please stop the misinformation.🧵⬇️

Why do Macs suck so badly at dealing with external monitors? Why do I have to do this ridiculous dance every morning to get my screen to wake up when the Mac is in clamshell mode?

Guys, I think I’ve solved it. Hear me out... We make any day the temperature goes above 32C in the UK an automatic bank holiday And then watch the big corporations scramble to fix climate change ASAP

This whole thread is gold, but I love the message here most of all. There are many jobs we are not a fit for. This has nothing to do with our value as people.
Replying to @QuinnyPig
Completely wrong framing. It's about being a fit for the role, not "good enough." It's a weird, weird role that's not for everyone, or even most people. "Not a fit" says nothing whatsoever about someone's value or skill.

Wise words.
Don't take for granted the time you have with special people in your life. Tell them you love them. Give them a hug (if they're cool with it). Remind them what they mean to you. You will NEVER regret doing this. Happy Friday, y'all! Also, I'm glad you're here. :)

I’ve become quite a fan of the 3M Aura N95 masks. It’s obviously a personal fit thing, but I find them comfortable for prolonged wear.
I did a quick test of masks for upcoming events like @DEFCON. Verdict: throw out your old cloth/surgical masks and get behind-the-head (instead of behind-the-ear) N95 masks that fit well. cybersect.substack.com/p/fac…

As a fan of non-obvious persistence mechanisms I had to try to collect (and categorize!) them all. It has just started, first 10 entries appeared, and more is coming each day. I am happy to share it. Enjoy, contribute, use freely - persistence-info.github.io/
