Anyway, that's all. Give your friends a big hug when you see them next if they're into that sort of thing (and if you are too, of course). You never know when you won't get another chance, and that missed opportunity isn't something anyone should have to live with. /FIN

I've created some cool stuff over the years, but this one is the coolest. Unfortunately, it's Linux only. Part puzzle, part game, part awe inspiring cryptographic demonstration. There's a lot to unpack here - keep looking until you find it... yourflyisopen.com/article/sk… Please RT!

Never forget. When they characterize you as being “far left” they mean: - Wanting everyone to have health care - Billionaires to pay literally any tax - Fewer Harvey Weinsteins - Addressing racism beyond lip service That’s not far left. That’s just not being an asshole.

Tarah is a wonderful friend, mentor, CTF player, and a constant learner. She's helped our industry despite adversity You can never master a subject - there's always more to learn. Conversely, there's always something you can share and teach others Improve our industry: do both.

Still need to find somebody willing to (or has the tech, since my spouse got rid of my VHS player) transfer that very rare "History of BSD" talk Kirk gave in 1999 when we not only played a drinking game on his verbal ticks, but got him extremely drunk on Anchor Steam.

Somehow in my world “zero trust” has come to mean “every new client sends me their ‘trusted laptop’”. Any fellow consultants come up with a good racking solution for all this gear?

i was on tumblr when yahoo had to sell it for $3 million after buying it for $1.1 billion. we were all a little bit responsible for losing yahoo a billion dollars. and with that type of collective effort, i believe we here on twitter can lose elon musk even more

Hey research funders: I know your instinct is to just give money to Stanford and MIT. If you’re giving money for appearances, by all means give to them. But they already have lots of money. If you’re giving money to generate actual research, stop giving to them.

If I can offer an observation, 20+ years into my software career: Long term, your kindness and helpfulness are vastly more impactful than your technical skills. People will remember how you made them feel. They're much less likely to remember that awesome function you wrote.

While the ideal is to see a story of ongoing improvement and progress, the reality is that careers can be messy. This is especially true for those who lack privilege. People sometimes take a job because they need access to health insurance for a sick loved one.
