Bob: So, how do I find people to follow on Mastodon? Ed: It's decentralised. Use the right instance! Bob: Ok, it's not a monolith. How do I find the right instance? Ed: You ask people on Twitter! Bob: Did you just tell me to go fuck myself? Ed: I believe I did, Bob.

Assume she is technical and capable of breathing fire
The show floor has only been open for two hours and I’ve already been asked “can I speak to someone technical?”

I was “in the newspapers as a youth activist” level of O-U-T as a queer student at 16yo in 1991. EVERY SINGLE ONE of the objections we now see about trans youth was made about me, and I am FURIOUS at all the gays and lesbians my age who are falling for this now. To them:

0pointer.de/blog/brave-new-t… - this is very nice. Needs some work for it to work well with consumer Linux distros (some way to handle kernel command line arguments that don't have a security impact, the spec for initrd extensions), but definitely a big step in the right direction.

DTR. Defining the Relationship. Afraid of commitment or not, in investigations, it's important to identify what you're looking for in evidence before you jump in. That means defining the relationship you're trying to identify... let me explain... 🧵 /1

how to quit a social media site with a bang: 1. DM everyone you know "I ruined my marriage because I am in love with you" 2. follow up with "sorry, wrong window" 3. log out

I think one of the most wonderful people in infosec (in the world actually) is @pink_tangent and she recently put some suggestions to a conference organiser to instead stop asking other women to ask women to submit and maybe look internally. I will elaborate more: 1/9

Once you understand that there are individuals of wealth and power that literally profit from the back-and-forth of the economy - using it to subsidize their losses and privatize their gains - then the continued existence of those "mysterious" cycles makes way more sense.

Y'all, go check out this awesome project! I was blown away by what a realistic data set KC7 has. Check out Greg and Simeon explaining the project in the livestream, and all the data and instructions are here: github.com/kkneomis/kc7
.@simandsec and I had a blast talking with @likethecoins today on the SANS Threat Analysis Rundown livestream about KC7 and how it will open doors and offer crucial experiences to folks looking to break into cyber. If you missed it, catch it here: youtube.com/watch?v=b82yaK15…

I've really been missing Australia lately, but I hope to be there virtually with my submission to @ComfyConAU. CFP closes Friday (and I'm assuming that's in their timezone, so it's even sooner for us here in North America)!
Our CFP closes on Friday. If you've been sitting on a talk idea and need help, take a look at @pink_tangent and her video or get in contact with her, @fancy_4n6 or @wan0net

We've got a problem in cybersecurity: Women make up less than 25% of the global cybersecurity workforce. Why? We surveyed some of the incredible women here at Huntress and a few of our friends in the industry to find out. hubs.ly/Q01q8DW70

Just a little shout out to folks battling depression, other internal emotional battles that are invisible to many. A big hug and encouragement for keeping up your fight, unseen. Most of us understand, even though it may not seem like it. Keep going, we see you, have support.

This Windows kernel rootkit research by @pkalnai is incredible! Easily one of the most current and useful papers on the topic in years. Highly recommended reading! #DFIR #infosec

Friends, I was asked, so let's talk about why we use the term "mansplaining". It is gendered because it's referring to a behavior that is frequently performed by men in a way that causes harm, but because it is deeply tied to toxic masculinity and men's feelings of self-worth.
