Old, but worth a repost . I was very much influenced by @mattmight's "least resistance" philosophy. Also, I appreciate the no-nonsense view on the basic biology of weight loss. matt.might.net/articles/leas…

That's for sure interesting stuff, and I do think it's worth taking seriously. That said, I do think Matt has the right big picture story: weight loss is mostly about caloric deficit.

There's an episode of EconTalk in which Gary Taubes—author of The Case Against Sugar—argues that reducing the problem to caloric deficit is analogous to simplifying the secret behind Bill Gate's wealth to “he made more money than he spent.”

This thread took a confrontational turn. I'm sorry! That was not my intent at all! I don't know enough about en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ketosi… or any of this to say things with confidence. I just was reminded of some interesting research!

Apologies, I didn't mean to sound argumentative. Thought sharing counter viewpoints might be beneficial.

@gluegadget for reference, I listened to it a while back, and I think you selected an fairly confrontational summary. It may be factually correct, but I don't personally think that makes it effective or enjoyable rhetoric. I'm gonna get back to work. Sorry to cause trouble.
