Old, but worth a repost . I was very much influenced by @mattmight's "least resistance" philosophy. Also, I appreciate the no-nonsense view on the basic biology of weight loss.

I have been trying to learn more about nutrition. I was most shocked by these recent findings on artificial sweeteners:

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/article…
It seems that modifying gut microbiome can mess with weight in spite of calorie count.

There's an episode of EconTalk in which Gary Taubes—author of The Case Against Sugar—argues that reducing the problem to caloric deficit is analogous to simplifying the secret behind Bill Gate's wealth to “he made more money than he spent.”

This thread took a confrontational turn. I'm sorry! That was not my intent at all! I don't know enough about en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ketosi… or any of this to say things with confidence. I just was reminded of some interesting research!
