The hardest task for a senior engineer is to learn a new area where they will need to become a beginner again. But at some point, this is the only way to grow, and doing it successfully unlocks unique impact. Especially true for great engineers switching into machine learning.

The more experience you get the more you need to learn. It sound paradoxical but this is the reality, since degeneration risk is increasing with experience

Another way to view this is an opportunity to become more multidisciplinary; to better understand domains where technology plays a pivotal role positively/negativity impacting society, e.g. human centered design, cognitive science, social justice, climate, etc

Totally agree. I鈥檝e found there is usually some major paradigm shift in programming every 5ish years. You have to dive in with the perspective of starting from scratch
