One trick to stop your TODO list from growing without bound: create a fresh list every day, and archive the previous list. Copy over old items only as you actively remember them. Pretty soon you get good at only tracking items that are actually worth the mental space.

Relatedly, adding stuff to your Todo list that you've already done and immediately crossing it out is a great dopamine hack

Or let GPT-3 rewrite it

cool idea use constraints to as advantages

I’ve had success with the bullet journal approach. Physically rewriting the list every day is an incentive to finally do some of those items that get procrastinated for too many days

This is a great method. Open notion, start a new page for todays todos, plan the day while copying any relevant items from yesterday.

So are we talking pen and paper still or is this online. If pen and paper that's interesting that you rewrite it everyday. Any one have a prioritize section in their todo?

Very risky method to be honest. Might not be able to actively recall some critical item in the moment and it gets completely wiped off from the priority list

I find this to be very helpful for prioritization, both for myself as a person but also as a product manager. Backlogs really only help you remember the not-so-important stuff, and in the meantime they introduce an awful lot of overhead.

@gdb but is this only applicable to short term/daily weekly todos or even long term/personal project based todos ?

Great idea! This helps with a todo list becoming overwhelming. I’d also add that it’s been helpful to create a list the night before so you can hit the ground running in the morning.
