The difference between a startup and a large corporation is that in large corporations, everyone is assigned a seat and a desk and a parking spot and a cubicle, and in startups everyone is assigned a task.

The plague of large corporations are HR leaders being pronounced 'business partners' when they don't know the business. Growing start ups should put a senior developer/engineer to lead HR with priority on learning and development and outsource the remaining HR functions.

95% of startups fail, in part because employees work on tasks for which there is no market, and nearly one in five startups never had a true business model. How can we bring better structure to startups so they stay fast, lightweight, and most importantly, around?

Thanks for this very enlightening tweet. From tomorrow, I'm going to park my car, go to my cubicle, sit at my seat, and stare at my desk for eight hours.

Not any longer if you speak with anyone at 🍏, AMZN, MSFT or CRM.. among others. The worlds of large corporations, even like CITI, are very different than even two years ago. Most of us working in startups don’t know this because we don’t live large corporations daily.

Disagree with this. Have seen the opposite in both situations. Find a group of people you get along with/fight with, challenge you, push you and respect you & the other things you have going in your life. Doesn’t matter ‘startup’ or ‘corporation’

Sometimes figuring out your task is also part of the task :)
