I don't have an academic degree. @ilyasut has a PhD (though dropped out of high school!). We do not select on the basis of academic credentials, but on evidence of exceptional ability.

will you hire someone experienced in ML and MLops as a team lead but without any academic degree? If you do, I will be happy to apply to you. P.S. I'm not afraid of being rejected in an interview but not having an academic degree, I think it is not a proper cause.

I love this. A huge moral boost for a drop-outs like me.

I am 20yo, from India. I don't have a degree but I am super interested in research done at OpenAI. I have completed the spinning up as a DRL researcher and have a pretty good idea of how DRL works. I taught myself programming and Deep Learning. How can I be part of OpenAI?

The problem isn't what you want, It's how your recruiters and interviewers recruit... there is a mismatch there... they tend to judge based on high school level questions that are irrelevant for research to people with demonstrable exceptional skills :)

the degree requirements are usually inserted by HR. Most people don't have a degree related to their work. And knowledge mostly supersedes a degree.
