A trained language model generates text.
We can optionally pass it some text as input, which influences its output.
The output is generated from what the model "learned" during its training period where it scanned vast amounts of text.

The GPT-3 hype is way too much. It’s impressive (thanks for the nice compliments!) but it still has serious weaknesses and sometimes makes very silly mistakes. AI is going to change the world, but GPT-3 is just a very early glimpse. We have a lot still to figure out.

Thanks for showing both the strengths and weaknesses — important for people to see the system “as it is” currently.
Has been inspiring to see all the excitement, but we have a lot of work ahead of us still :).
initial attempts: very impressive QA results (check out the coref in the gates questions!) but also has some glitches.
