We had a couple of friends over and made this, and offspring #2 who is of the 'grammable' generation says the selfie is a good one so here you have it: two nerds, and a lasagna made with Marcella Hazan 'ragu' made during six hours the previous day. Turned out well too.

Unsure whether I lost more brain cells watching "Bullet Train" on @netflix (PSA: Avoid at all cost), or from suffering the umpteent repeat of that @verizon ad on @foxnews during the half-time break.

So someone fires three quarters of the bird site staff. Surprise, surprise service quality goes down. This is an ad-hoc 'search and mute and block' script of mine, here aiming recent (and rampant) crypto spam. Imagine what a dedicated engineering team could do to spambots.

And if on @Ubuntu and tired of manually downloading, I set up a PPA to let `apt` take care of it. See dirk.eddelbuettel.com/blog/2…, scripts are at repo below. Needs a webserver as the files are too large for GH, so I am using my server. #rstats github.com/eddelbuettel/ppa-…

Milestone: one million packages served by #r2u. For #Rstats on Ubuntu, all CRAN packages as binaries "fast, easy, reliably" from a well-connected mirror, all dependencies resolved via `apt`. I will talk about this tomorrow at the Cleveland RUG; a video may be forthcoming.

Orthogonal: #r2u offers a complete .libPaths() for the default (current) #Rstats, with full dependency resolution, as binaries, fast. That, Just. Works. You can combine it with different R interpreters if you set their .libPaths(). They may complain about newer package builds.

One weird trick... again from @eddelbuettel: For Linux: you can avoid `apt` altogether if you follow this step from r2u. Then you can get the R package binaries from install.packages() For me, I like to see what's there via apt-cache, so i prefer apt, but to each their own...

Yes! Plus if you use it (as documented on the #r2u website) with `bspm` (an optional but recommended package) then you can do from #Rstat install.packages(c("data.table", "DESeq2")) and get everything FAST with ALL DEPENDENCIES automatically. Just ran it here: ~ 10 seconds.

I had good luck with Suggests:, even couples with the Additional_repositories: line in DESCRIPTION, and proper conditional use behind `if (requireNamespace("pkg", quietly=TRUE))`. That may be an option here as long as `cmdstanr` is at arm's length only.
