That said, I also follow CRAN carefully -- and wrote the CRANberries rss/html feed for it which I read, and which is also on this birdsite at @CRANberriesFeed. Ditto with R Devel changes (via rss, once set up by Duncan Murdoch) and my @CRANPolicyWatch bot.
GitHub development tends to be (much) more granular (as we are asked to space out CRAN uploads to e.g. no more than six in six months -- making CRAN coarser). So I follow things I am interested in at GitHub. Plus, you can finetune notifications per repo.
You can try qlcal: I abstracted the (time-tested) operators out of QuantLib do have a lighterweight #rstats package just for (business/exchange) calendaring.

"Squinting at a graph is fine for getting a rough idea of the answer, but if you want to pretend to know it exactly, you neeed statistics."
Maybe just what we should put on the #Rstats website ...
And yes, a typo as @psolymos noted: that should read 20,000+ CRAN #rstats packages, along with the 240+ BioConductor packages now at release 3.16, with full system dependencies all just one install.packages() -- or apt install -- call away on Ubuntu 20.04 and 22.04.
#r2u has updated its 240-ish `r-bioc-*` packages to the recent @BioConductor release 3.16.
#r2u serves over 20,00 `r-cran-*` packages with full system-dependencies for @Ubuntu 20.04 and 22.04 along `r-bioc-*` packages.
More (incl demos) at the site.

As @bolkerb mentioned, #r2u wins for Ubuntu 22.04 (+ 20.04) on x86_64:
- Fast: install.packages("tidyverse") in ~ 10s, demos for `rstan` and other avail.
- Reliable: built with full system dependencies and integration
- Cheap: five simple steps to install, good internet2 mirror
Pretty good piece: "America could do with a demonstration of grace and wisdom in public life, and Joe Biden is the man for the job. [...] He can liberate himself to be what biology and politics are making him, and what America needs—an elder statesman."

It is a rite of passage. Program sufficiently much with #rstats and you will most likely fall into an 'R FAQ 7.31'-shaped hole. Holds with other programming languages too, unless you operate symbolically.
A complaining tweet I did not send a few weeks ago (hi @joshua_ulrich 😃) was whether I was more annoyed with @betterment trying to sell me [asset class imploding again this week] or @spotify trying to get me to listen to [apparently popular angry old men] podcast. Both are icky.
It was great fun be part of yesterday's @CANSSIOntario Statistical Software Conference put together so well by @RohanAlexander. My talk on #r2u may have struck a cord as we are blowing out download number today. More on #r2u at eddelbuettel.github.io/r2u/. Slides at my webpage.
