How it started. How it's going.
We have 500+ fewer package on CRAN than at '19k packages' in March.
Enforcing quality levels is harsh. We all hate rejection (from CRAN, journals, conferences, ...) so this is not popular. But it helps ensure quality. #rstats
Hey, look, round number at CRAN!
A big, big thank you to the CRAN maintainers who are volunteers putting together an unparallel repository with unmatched quality guarantees, year in and out. Very much appreciated!
(Even if #RStats package authors like myself grumble at times.)

`r2u` is indeed an option. The 1st tweet for `r2u` showed `tidyverse` via a 1-command install on Ubuntu 20.04 (see below), it shouldn't fail on `broom`. If you have something reproducible, can you open an issue at the eddelbuettel/r2u repo? I use 22.04 day-to-day with it too.

I prefer and use current Ubuntu releases, so it is 22.04 for myself, Using r2u with bspm set up (as eg in the demo container) all it takes is a single
$ install.r leaflet
and you can then do `library(leaflet)` in #Rstats. So you can, I would consider upgrading to 22.04.
