Oh, protected car lanes? Give us a week."

Rumours that @IARC_WHO are set to declare #Aspartame as "possibly carcinogenic" are causing concern. It's important to know that IARC classifications use highly coded language. In this thread I will decode this language and explain what it means.

Please do not crosspost. I already answered / commented on your SO question. You will get yourself more karma points if you do your homework first rather than outsourcing that several times over to busy volunteers.
Yep, a *much* underappreciated feature.
I tried at the time to write a blog post about it but somehow stumbled and it never became a regular usage pattern for me as I tend to explicitly import via `::` from packages known to be potentially troublesome.
As @marutterstat is still vacationing, I uploaded my Debian build to my Ubuntu Launchpad PPA as I often do (under a slightly lower version number) / should have done last Friday. It built of course without any hickups and will be downloadable very soon.

Nobody can help on two-line posts with an error message without context. Lots of people compile(d) R on Ubuntu, LTS or not. There is a dedicated mailing list r-sig-debian for all questions related to #rstats on @Debian, @Ubuntu, and other derivs. Post there please if you can.
Quick little Wednesday experiment of 'baked' potato + zuchini + carrot latkes with a side of lax and creme fraiche / sour cream by @julia_edd ('back home' for a few weeks) and me. Worked out ok under the constraints of vegetarian weekdays. Pic is from her BeReal stream.

R 4.3.1 was released on Friday as scheduled, arrived in Debian and rocker/r-base on Friday, is now in Docker as r-base too (it was a long weekend...) and should be an Ubuntu backport at CRAN thanks to @marutterstat very soon too. Enjoy the new release! #rstats
On September 28th I will hold my (public) inaugural lecture "The Ancient Art of Data Management" at @Radboud_Uni - invitation and details on how to register here:

Yes! Adding `rstudio` to #r2u has come up before but I have not time for it. Adding it, in container or on a life system, is straightforward as there are matching .deb packages (cf link). To run the server best some rocker scripts may help. /cc @eitsupigithub.com/eddelbuettel/ppa-…
From first principles:
- treat the symptom: run a filter like `dos2unix` on ther files before you create the .tar.gz
- treat the cause: if (say) your code is in `git` learn about the line end settings as git can maps it for you
