@hadleywickham Looks good, especially as you discourage the old and dreaded .C() interface. Shall we offer alternate example with Rcpp?

@eddelbuettel Rcpp examples would be awesome! I hope it was obvious I think Rcpp is the way for new code.

@hadleywickham Yup, I think that will make a useful page. Even with Rcpp it helps to know about the underlying SEXPs.

@eddelbuettel writing it made me realise how much R-externals leaves out. also inline is awesome for this; so easy to try out c code

@hadleywickham And yes, the inline package is awesome for this; the Rcpp integration helped us lots. Also see the new rcpp() function :)
