Terrific piece. Honestly the most common reason I have heard (and I have heard it a lot) from suburbanites to buy e-bikes is to skip the school car drop off queue

We survived by being in walking distance to primary and middle schools, and an easy bike ride to the high school. Location. Location. Location. Oh and city designs matter.

My primary school was walking distance but I took a bus - later two - over a distance of about seven miles to get to secondary school

Birmingham, England, is not an especially well-designed city on that front. It is almost American. Lots of schools are on the outskirts of town where land was cheap in the 1950s
