Am I the only one having issues in opening this version in Linux?

Um, which Linux and what are you trying?
1
Linux 22.04 LTS (Jammy Jellyfish). Unable to "make" from source code, due to "share/make/basepkg.mk:151: sysdata] Error 1"

I.e. Ubuntu. But "Error 1" could be almost anything. Perhaps @eddelbuettel can help, otherwise the R-devel mailing list. (Twitter is a bit hopeless for support issues.)

Nobody can help on two-line posts with an error message without context. Lots of people compile(d) R on Ubuntu, LTS or not. There is a dedicated mailing list r-sig-debian for all questions related to #rstats on @Debian, @Ubuntu, and other derivs. Post there please if you can.

As @marutterstat is still vacationing, I uploaded my Debian build to my Ubuntu Launchpad PPA as I often do (under a slightly lower version number) / should have done last Friday. It built of course without any hickups and will be downloadable very soon. launchpad.net/~edd/+archive/…
