One just uses #Rstats 4.3.0 from the standard LTS repo mirrored at CRAN: distros can generally use prior (LTS or normal) releases just fine. As this came up over on the other site see my post: mastodon.social/@eddelbuette…

Thanks! At first, apt complained about missing libicu70 which is not in lunar, but adding the jammy repo to my source.list allowed to install everything. Thank you for all of the things you do for debian and ubuntu!

Ah, yes, that can happen as the binary reflects the build environment. You analysed this correctly and did the right thing as we can have multiple distinct libicu* versions installed. One can also pull a missing library 'by hand' from packages.ubuntu.com as a one-off.
