hey #rstats, I'm using data.table for the first time and I'm already confused. I thought the code on the left below would have subsetted nor_haul_info to just the listed columns. but as you can see on the right, its dimensions are the same as nor_raw. what am I doing wrong?

That subset is transient, you just did it in an expression ... which you did not assign to a new variable.
