I believe @andrewheiss has said great things about RStudio Cloud too. I debated using it once but never got around to it. Depending on class size and how much time you expect students to spend on learning, the educator price of $15/month might cover it.

Up to 24 students. Most will be able to do a local install, but some may be connecting to the course through a tablet or old laptop with no capacity.

Yes, @RStudio Cloud is good -- I taught my data science programming class (cf stat447.com) using it three times now. Essentially zero setup issues. At U of Illinois we have a campus-wide contract, and students pay around $5/month. #rstats
