Anyone have experience with building a course-specific wiki or open source version of Stack Exchange? In my undergrad #rstats class we’ve used Piazza and Ed Discussions successfully but neither tool aggregates answers in such a way that over time it becomes a useful reference.

i feel like there was an open source / white label version of stack exchange but I can't remember what it was called or where I saw it...

That may have been biostars.org/ backed by the code in github.com/ialbert/biostar-c… But my gut feel is that a _course_ is too small a population to meaningfully interact, review, vote, aggregate, ... Worth a try though.

Thanks! Agree that getting a critical mass would be essential. I’ve thought of trying to nudge students into Stack Exchange where there is mass but for many students would be starting at the deep end and I fear would be a bad experience. Need something like baby stack exchange.
