It's somewhat orthogonal to yours as you went towards `r-devel` (which we offer pre-made as you showed); this one veers towards "g++-devel". Connecting both endpoints for r-devel under gcc-11 is left, as we are wont to say, "as an exercise to the reader(s)". Both of them.

I just think that it’s both cool and hilarious…and let’s not even talk about the nature of the problem that I was debugging. 😳
