Are the recorded examples on how well (or not) this works? Do these services to live captioning and then provide curated capturing after the live event?

At @celebRtion2020 the @HeathrTurnr talk used a (free, iirc) service straight off (iirc) github which transcribed live. Pretty high quality---not as good as (human) professional service but impressive. An alternative? The video only shows slides though youtube.com/watch?v=BbpkKzz7…

This was using github.com/MidCamp/live-capt…, correct? Related to this: It would neat if the transcription (Youtube subtitles) could be improved over time via crowdsourced editing, e.g. hosting subtitle files on a git repos online
