Ah, yes, that can happen as the binary reflects the build environment. You analysed this correctly and did the right thing as we can have multiple distinct libicu* versions installed. One can also pull a missing library 'by hand' from packages.ubuntu.com as a one-off.

One just uses #Rstats 4.3.0 from the standard LTS repo mirrored at CRAN: distros can generally use prior (LTS or normal) releases just fine. As this came up over on the other site see my post: mastodon.social/@eddelbuette…

For a C++ library we set up a CMake variable that takes care of it in that GitHub Action that builds and uploads. I have a small new artifact creater (pending PR) where the logic was tested first in another repo: github.com/single-cell-data/…
#r2u keeps on trucking: now just over five million .deb packages for #Rstats on Ubuntu LTS (focal or jammy) in the thirteen months since the start. Easy, fast, reliable -- pick all three! eddelbuettel.github.io/r2u/

DOT now gets some small things right. One example is protecting the bike lanes with these small concrete barriers to avoid encroachment from parked cars. Sadly not everywhere: Lake St is still a mess in parts. And of then of course all the potholes...

David Kane will run another session of his (free !!) Data Science Bootcamp starting June 5. It targets high-schoolers and assumes zero prior programming or statistical knowledge. He is a very good fellow so I recommend this to any young ones. #rstats bootcamp.davidkane.info/

Good point. That also works with the older-school predecessor as an option. Done that before for some fancier fonts dances, and come to think about it I think all my lecture slides does think (would neeed to check).
Well it's still all pandoc all the way down nomatter how many layers are stacked put on top.
I am not good at his. I am still stuck at reflexively addiing `\usepackage{avant}` or maybe `\usepackage{palatino}`. Sending a bat signal to @Apoorva__Lal who aces this. Maybe he can help <grin>

Yes and I would also consider the font choice in your handy report <grin> After coming up on 35 years with latex and friends I just do not want to look at computer modern ever again. But I appreciate the classicism. Very tinyverse, that.

Nice. I am about two months in (connect2 claims 187k meters, which seems high?) and like it. Still not so sure "the form" is right but I do go longer and faster than when I started. Made the mistake of looking at quantiles what I do now (5k each time). Work to do :)

Sweet. Nice timing: I hadn't set up a `pkg-fonts-*` for my own use (but also usable on any @Debian/@Ubuntu box) since (IIRC) the jetbrains mono one (which was later replaced by a distro one). Have a few more pkg-fonts-* at @github. h/t @felixsalmon github.com/eddelbuettel/pkg-…

Not all heros wear capes. Thank you to one reader.
In case someone reading happens to have a "spare" bsky invitation and does not know what to do with it, I would gladly take it (and merrily commit to paying it forward sharing invites which, as I understand it, are given to existing users).
