AsioHeader 1.22.1-2 on CRAN: Small Update Cross-platform C++ library for network and low-level I/O dirk.eddelbuettel.com/blog/2… #rstats

Milestone: one million packages served by #r2u. For #Rstats on Ubuntu, all CRAN packages as binaries "fast, easy, reliably" from a well-connected mirror, all dependencies resolved via `apt`. I will talk about this tomorrow at the Cleveland RUG; a video may be forthcoming.

Orthogonal: #r2u offers a complete .libPaths() for the default (current) #Rstats, with full dependency resolution, as binaries, fast. That, Just. Works. You can combine it with different R interpreters if you set their .libPaths(). They may complain about newer package builds.

<Cough, cough> If only, #ChatGPT3. Your training data appears to either be five years out of data, or poorly edited: There was a bit of a black eye five years ago. But this years showing was much improved. Onwards to 2026 when North America hosts. #worldcup #usmnt

Yes! Plus if you use it (as documented on the #r2u website) with `bspm` (an optional but recommended package) then you can do from #Rstat install.packages(c("data.table", "DESeq2")) and get everything FAST with ALL DEPENDENCIES automatically. Just ran it here: ~ 10 seconds.

I had good luck with Suggests:, even couples with the Additional_repositories: line in DESCRIPTION, and proper conditional use behind `if (requireNamespace("pkg", quietly=TRUE))`. That may be an option here as long as `cmdstanr` is at arm's length only.

Apropos of events this week I tricked the much-talked about ChatGPT into stating that soccer is futile when we all know *that ball is life* (and many countries are in tears, the way it goes every four years). #worldcup #soccer

The tweet had no EPL takers in January, but I could still make my services available to any interested national soccer federation. I am already familiar with Germany and Canada, and could make myself available to Mexico, Belgium or other counter country. #soccer #worldcup
Dear Everton: I was born not too far in time and space from Juergen Klopp, Thomas Tuchel, and Ralf Rangnick. I am available, I still speak German, and I bleed Fussball. What else do you need to know before I become the next EPL Manager?

That said, I also follow CRAN carefully -- and wrote the CRANberries rss/html feed for it which I read, and which is also on this birdsite at @CRANberriesFeed. Ditto with R Devel changes (via rss, once set up by Duncan Murdoch) and my @CRANPolicyWatch bot.

GitHub development tends to be (much) more granular (as we are asked to space out CRAN uploads to e.g. no more than six in six months -- making CRAN coarser). So I follow things I am interested in at GitHub. Plus, you can finetune notifications per repo.

First family run in New Jersey. And an honest 10k to boot.
regret to inform that we are, in fact, a run-on-thanksgiving family

You can try qlcal: I abstracted the (time-tested) operators out of QuantLib do have a lighterweight #rstats package just for (business/exchange) calendaring. github.com/qlcal/qlcal-r

♥️ "Squinting at a graph is fine for getting a rough idea of the answer, but if you want to pretend to know it exactly, you neeed statistics." Maybe just what we should put on the #Rstats website ...

And yes, a typo as @psolymos noted: that should read 20,000+ CRAN #rstats packages, along with the 240+ BioConductor packages now at release 3.16, with full system dependencies all just one install.packages() -- or apt install -- call away on Ubuntu 20.04 and 22.04.
#r2u has updated its 240-ish `r-bioc-*` packages to the recent @BioConductor release 3.16. #r2u serves over 20,00 `r-cran-*` packages with full system-dependencies for @Ubuntu 20.04 and 22.04 along `r-bioc-*` packages. More (incl demos) at the site. eddelbuettel.github.io/r2u/
