Data Science. TileDB. Open Source. Quant Research. R. C++. Debian. Linux. Adjunct Clinical Professor, University of Illinois. Lots of coffee. And some running.
Lecture slides for my 'Data Science Programming Methods' course STAT 447 from this Fall 2021 at U of Illinois are now accessible via stat447.com covering shell (incl sed/awk), markdown, git(hub), sql, lots of #Rstats up to packaging, and Docker. Enjoy!
Sorry to hear Laurent! I am also in a rather salty mood re CRAN right now because of some nonsense with an upload upheld because a third-party library. So no magic pixie dust from me either: it is what it is--a glorious gift they give us, yet at times very frustrating.
Not a new question: Gentzkow and Shapiro wrote theis eight years ago: web.stanford.edu/~gentzkow/r…
My view is similar, as is the content of my STAT447 course: shell/scripts, git, sql, markdown, R, ...: stat447.com
And this really should be a three course sequence.
It's irritating when one first encounters it but it ... is also more or less a rite of passage.
See the ("famous") R FAQ answer 7.31 which is about this -- and so famous that "7.31" really is just shorthand for these problems. #rstats
This is mind-blowing. 30+ miles a day. For 100+ days. Rain or shine. Mountain or desert. Across Mexico from West to East. Wicked story by @ksieff who is not a shabby runner either (2hr 48min marathoner)

Which is the recommended and documented behavior, and has been for all those years!
Remember: #Rcpp maps R data structures.
And those (generally) do not grow well. So use STL (and alike) in C++ and transfer back to R(cpp) data just prior to return.
'apt update && apt upgrade' automagically bringing new rstudio(-server) and quarto binaries is the gift that keeps on giving new #rstats toys.
And just got quarto 0.9.9, so it seems like a main release may be coming 'soon'.

#rstats
Potentially impactful CRAN Policy revision regarding external libraries for #rstats with a new 'external libs' document at cran.r-project.org/web/packa…
And an #rstats function of mine that is older than your `rtweet` package and still in hourly use:
tweet <- function(txt) {
con <- pipe("bti --config ~/.bti.conf", "w")
cat(txt, file=con)
close(con)
}
where bti is from the trusted repo github.com/gregkh/bti
