Dear Everton: I was born not too far in time and space from Juergen Klopp, Thomas Tuchel, and Ralf Rangnick. I am available, I still speak German, and I bleed Fussball. What else do you need to know before I become the next EPL Manager?
There is a mailing we explicitly created for package development questions: r-package-devel. It is fairly friendly and no-nonsense. Maybe ask there? Or on StackOverflow?
But ask something specific. Your tweete did not say *what* is confusing you. #rstats
Nine months of work in to make STRICT_R_HEADERS a default in #Rcpp -- see blog post from yesterday's 1.0.8 release for more.
And really nice to see that R Core is now following in #rstats development branch. It is a better default we all should have turned on earlier.
Rcpp 1.0.8 on CRAN: Updates, Strict Headers
Seamless R and C++ Integration

Bi-annual release including a switch to stricter headers requiring extensive rev.dep tests and months of planning. Big Thank You! to all who helped with this!

That. Is. Rather. Flattering.
Of course, other STAT 447 course evaluation comments were saltier including "this course should be in Python". No matter what we write in syllabus or course websites, someone will skip it and be sad for it.

Thanks, Rblpapi is niche, but if you are in trading and investments, it is golden and hits the spot. Thanks also to co-authors @john_laing and Whit Armstrong.
We were told that it is nicer than the #Python package for Bloomberg but I can't speak to that.
#RStats#RFinance
Indeed. As R^4 post #034 stated: "Less is more".
Fewer components is better. Faster deployment in usage and CI, and likely less breakage and greater overall reliability. Clear win for vignettes, testing, and much more. #rstatsdirk.eddelbuettel.com/blog/2…
Have started to play around with #rstats {simplermarkdown} after seeing @eddelbuettel highlighting it. Looks very promising. Would dramatically reduce build-time dependencies for packages that need a markdown vignette builder.

You need a step to `sudo apt install libcurl4-openssl-dev` as the (quoted) error says.
This is a known achilles heel of the RSPM binaries (which lack full dependencies) which is preempted in some actions for CI but apparently not in your bookdown setup.
If you are still iterating on it with CRAN, and the old upload attempt is archived, then it is fine to keep the same number 1.1.0.
As soon as you get 'on its way to CRAN' email it is better to increment to 1.1.1.
See several emails by Uwe on the r-package-devel list.

And just like that SCAPDFATIAT was on its way into the Oxford and Merriam-Webster dictionaries ...
Did somebody say OCD?
That's a run, bike ride, or exercise every day of 2021. It's almost as if the year was a pain in the rear needing an outlet. So here's to 2022....

As programmer and data wrangler, dealing with dates, holidays, and time zones is a challenge. In #rstats and #cpp but good libraries help. Happy to help a little too.
