Replying to @pdalgd @kjhealy
Please don't remind me Peter. Spent a few minutes yesterday looking at @krlmr's rprojroot package to find an easy way to get the git repo root, and realized today that I already wrote a zero-depends function to do just that. Hm. github.com/eddelbuettel/dang…

Ah, time to eat some crow as a superb new women's world record was set today by Brigid Kosgei besting a 16 year old record by Paula Radcliffe by a smashing 81 seconds. And she looked great at mile 18 behind two pacers. Still, Berlin owns the men's world records.
Sorry, @NYTimes: my Chicago home pride is very touched but this misses a) last seven (!!) WRs set in Berlin (as flat, fewer turns) b) the last time Chicago had (male) WR was 20 years ago nytimes.com/2019/10/11/sport… en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marath…

This is pretty extraordinary, special conditions not withstanding. But as several models have predicted, it may be decades before we see two hours broken in a regular marathon race. Eliud Kipchoge makes history by running sub two-hour marathon theguardian.com/sport/2019/o…

And thanks to Android's autocorrect for turning 'herd' into 'heard' without me noticing. So, @jack, I hear it is 2019. Can we maybe we get to _edit_ our tweets one day? Asking for a poorly typing "friend" ...
